So don't stone me when I tell you this but, The Last Wingman is the first Wingmen book I have read! *GASP*! I know, I know...or at least I know now! Don't ask me why, I have not excuse, I just have a lot of regret for having missed out on all this sweetness for so long, but I also have a lot of joy knowing I now get to go back and start at the beginning and experience this series for the very first time.I was afraid at the start of this book that I wasn't going to like it, not because the story didn't seem like it was going to be good but because it felt so slow, but you know what, in the end it is the slow burn that makes this book so much more enjoyable. I loved that Jonah and June take there time learning each other. I love that June comes in with preconceived notions that are totally wrong, I love that there is this blend of Pride and Prejudice and Beauty and the Beast to the feel of the back and forth with this couple as they navigate each other. I just plain love the all around sweet feel to this book. It's a slow and steady pace that makes you wish you could head out into the woods, set up your tent, light a campfire, warm some hot cocoa, and roast some marshmallows as you read. I need some early summer nights of camping in my life right now!One of my absolute favorite things about this book and I am kind of hoping I will see it in the previous ones as well when I go back, all the literary references! Watership Down makes an appearance, (my 13 year old was ecstatic about this fact!) lots of fantastic Harry Potter references, Ravenclaw for the win, be still my nerdy heart! Which brings be to something else I loved. Jonah! I could release with him on so many levels, a bit 'long in the tooth', tattooed, pierced, (though no gauges for me) Ravenclaw, love to play dress up, in general an odd little nerd! To me there was just so much to love about him, his patience, his sweentness, his little pervy side. He is the total do not judge a book by it's cover package and I could't get enough of him. It took me a while to warm up to June because she comes in so judgmental in the beginning but by the end she had me swooning too!I can't say that this is the perfect end to the series since I haven't read the other books but I can say it is a great read and I can't wait to dive into the 5 previous books now. Get this one on your TBR and just get ready for a perfectly wonderful time and if you can read it while out enjoying all that nature has to offer more the better!
Jonah and June are just the best. They're #relationshipgoals. They are gentle and kind and perfect for each other and their journey to come together is everything I want to read in a romance novel! The Last Wingman is a leisurely walk down lover's lane to arrive at one of the sweetest, brightest, truest, happily-ever-afters I've ever read! Jonah is a nerd covered in tattoos and piercings. He's the poster boy for "Don't Judge a Book by It's Cover." And, he's just what June needs most.Because this is the final book in the Wingman Series, this book also gave me some tears. Not that this story is sad, it's not at all! But, I will miss John, Tom, Dan, Jonah and the Kelso brothers! They've been such a welcome and wonderful part of my reading and blogging journey over the last few years. While I will miss them terribly, the beauty of books is that they will always be there for me, just as they are, when I want to go back for a visit. And, isn't that part of what's wonderful about books? We can read, relate to and love these characters. It is like we build our own relationship with each of them particularly in a really wonderful series that builds such a strong sense of place and the vibe of a whole island and its' people. The Last Wingman is receiving a rare 6-Rating on BFF Book Blog because it completely illustrates everything that I have loved about this series. It is warm, cozy, heart-felt, full of friendship, quirks and incredible characters. It will have a special place in my heart and on my bookshelf. If you haven't read The Wingmen Series, now is the time to start. Spend some time in Whidbey with the Wingmen and their lady loves. You won't regret a minute of your stay! Godspeed to my fictional friends. An advance copy of this book was received from the author. Receipt of this copy did not impact the content or independence of this review. BFF Book Blog also uses a set of icon ratings. This book received additional icons for: butterflies, cast of characters, character development, funny, hero, romance, supporting characters, sweet, tears, world creation and happily ever after.
Loved. Loved. Loved. Loved The Last Wingman! It is a gloriously final course to Daisy Prescott’s Wingmen Series. If you haven't made the journey through these wonderful books, you are missing an amazing collection of stories. Through her words, Daisy is an extraordinary tour guide, letting her readers experience the beauty of her beloved Pacific Northwest, through they of her characters. If I close my eyes, I can just smell the salt air with with hints of garlic knots...Jonah Kingston has been elusive throughout the series, but here we get to know him. Really, really know him. He’s more than the hipstery coffee guy with his body a canvas of ink. He is a man who loves his community, poetry and pinball. Even beyond that he has a heart that is bigger and kinder than anyone could imagine. I absolutely adored him.At first blush, June Moxee, the proprietress of a yarn shop is the island sweetheart in the making. But like Jonah, but beneath her lovely dresses, fabulous glasses and delightful puns is a complex woman who has so much to give.Together they are as magical as the place that they call home. With more stops than starts, Jonah and June's road to HEA has some bumps, as they are on the island. With each turn, I fell harder and harder for not only this couple but everyone around them.I am not sad that this is the final book, I am happy to have experienced all these characters. I can say without a doubt each one of the books in the Wingmen series has a very special place in my heart. I know that whenever I need to take a trip to the PNW, I have the power to do so at my fingertips. That's the beauty of reading, friends.Happy reading.Laurie's Rating 10+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ STARS
