In my "Non-Diet" recipe book, I have four recipes from this book that I regularly use, not for diet maintenance, but because they taste so good and are easy to make. Good cook book ... the best in the SB Diet cookbook collection.
I got this used like new and it came in MINT condition for just over $9 and free prime shipping. This is for the hard cover book, it is larger than most books which I like as it is easily accessed from the kitchen counter reader. I tried using the digital editions but found it too cumbersome and had to print out a lot of information wasting ink, thus wasting a lot of money.I highly recommend and do suggest you look at the used like new books, mine looks brand new and saved me over $10.00.I hope this helps, Cheers and Vidimo Se!

In this section he updates some of the information from the original book (milk and yogurt are now allowed in phase 1 for example) and he gets into more detailed regarding different types of food.Then comes the core of the book. The recipe categories include breakfasts, appetiziers and snacks, soups, salads, side dishes and accompaniments, fish shellfish and poultry, meats, vegetarian entrees and desserts. Each recipe indicates what phase it is appropriate for and many of the recipes are pictured in mouthwatering photographs!Sample recipes include Vegetable Salad with Feta, Homestyle Green Bean Casserole, Pan Seared Pecan Grouper, Whole Wheat Vegetable Lasagna, and Apple and Almond Souffle. Over 200 recipes.One very nice feature is the inclusion of recipes so you can make many of your own condiments. Unfortunately ketchup, barbeque sauce and many other "toppers" are laden with high fructose corn syrup. So Dr. Agatston includes the details on how you can make your own.Overall the quality of recipes is very good. The one negative I have is the total avoidance of sugar and reliance on sugar substitutes. I would rather use real sugar in moderation than sugar substitutes like aspartame. He has a recipe for strawberries with velvety chocolate dip and suggests you use sugar free chocolate syrup. Instead why not use a high quality cocoa bar and melt it down. This is healthier than the faux sugars like malitol,which are in sugar free products and so much more satisfying.Dr. Agatston has some wonderful recipes in this book from top chefs and restaurants and they are worth buying the book for. But many of the desserts with the fake sugars and fat free sour cream fall flat. Moderation is key. Use the real deal in a tiny quantity like the French do.
I'm a long time (as these things go) south beach dieter: I started in January 2003, lost 30 pounds by July 2003, and have kept it off. I bought this cookbook because of the initial buzz that there would be some really interesting new recipes. Unfortunately, the first two I tried were bombs. The oven roasted chick peas had very little flavor and a really odd texture (maybe I didn't roast long enough? Perhaps, but they still could have used some kick to the flavor.) Based on reviews here, I next tried the salmon in creamy lemon sauce, billed as having a remarkably rich and creamy taste. It was average at best; the sauce was thin and the flavor one-dimensional. At this point, I actually printed out an Amazon lable to send the book back. However, I had tagged one last recipe to try--the oatmeal pancakes. These were dynamite! I had tried some VERY expensive lo-carb pancake mixes that yielded odd little things that tasted like bad synthetic omelets, and had sort of resigned myself to no pancakes. But the oatmeal pancakes recipe here? Beautiful cakes, fabulous flavor, good texture. I made a whole recipe, ate 3, and put the rest in a bag in the frig. Then every morning, I popped some in the toaster oven, where they heated up beautifully. Re-inspired, I went back to the cookbook and made escarole with white beans. Another hit! Tonight I will try the salmon with 5-spice seasoning and lime juice, and see how that is. I think now that I will keep the book, and see what other jewels I can come up with.
Wow this is a diet I can follow and enjoy without being hungry and sacrificing taste. I love to cook an I bought this book along with several other South Beach cookbooks and diet books. The recipes are easy and straight forward and are categorized as Phase 1, Phase 2 or Phase 3.
Great book. It arrived in great/new condition. It has over 200 recipes W/ beautiful color photos. The recipes are simple enough, & I think it'll help keep me from getting bored w/ the diet. Phase 1 is the trickiest.
I have a number of diet cookbooks, but this is one of my absolute favorites that has stood the test of time. The recipes are so delicious that I've served them to guests and had them express surprise that they are healthy. I especially appreciate the chapter on vegetarian entrees as I'm a "flexitarian" who tries to eat meatless several times per week. I've also had success adapting many of the entrees calling for red meat (which I don't eat at home) to use poultry instead.Highly recommended!

To be honest, coming from a thirteen year old girl who has been writing novels since the young age of seven or eight, this book is absolutely wonderful. I don't know who will disregard my opinion on it, as I am so young, but this novel workshop is very handy and a very good method for planning out books. I no longer have to plot out novels on pieces of printer paper, losing them every few days or so. Instead, I am actually able to plan out a novel on these books instead. It's really handy... as I am not really the average "happily ever after" writer. The several different ways you can take this book are incredible. Instead of me always having to fill in the "What happens to the characters after they are happy in the end?" box, I am able to express my opinion better. This book is great.
I LOVE this journal. It has every little detail in there that you could possibly need for writing your novel. It is definitely geared towards NaNo project writing, but it works with any time of year. If you are doing NaNo, this journal would easily give you the 50k words that you need, and i feel like you'd be hard pressed to have a writer's block using this as a guide. But like I said, it's a great tool for any kind of novel writing. The only thing I'd change is being able to have a downloadable version for future use. I don't want to have to buy a new journal every time I start a new project, and other journals I've had that are like this have come with downloadable versions for verified purchases of the hard copy. Not a big deal and not enough to knock off a star for the review or anything, but perhaps a suggestion for the future.
I love reading. LOVE IT. I've always wanted to write my very own novel, but had NO IDEA how to start. Ready, Set, Novel!: A Workbook is a terrific tool. To my very great surprise and delight, the instructional areas are not bland or boring, but rather funny and witty. The exercises in it really help expand my mind, even if they make me think so hard that I get a headache from time to time. The workbook also has hysterical pick-me-ups and ... drum roll please ... every writers favorite thing - procrastination pages! More importantly, this workbook will help you flesh out your characters and give them depth, and I mean DEPTH. And while there are many blank spots/pages for you to write in, I'd still pick up a blank notebook somewhere to keep alongside this one, because with this book, and all the fresh and exciting ideas that will flood your mind, you may just need it.
I do not have a messy mind, so this book doesn't work *as* well with me, but I know most creatives are erratic and messy when brainstorming and I am sure this book will very much help. It came extremely fast, it was clean and the receipt was tucked into the front cover. Definitely would recommend buying for unifnished/unknown novel concepts.
This book is filled to the brim with tidbits to poke and prod your idea into a possibly life filled story. I say possibly, because it's a wonderful framework, but you still get the joy from all the legwork. It has questions for characters, character bio sheets, a space for a map, timeline, and helpful prompts that get the juices flowing even if you later cut or completely exclude the scene resulting. It does all of this in a more humorous, friendly spirit than many other writing aids I've come across.
This book is as entertaining as it is informative. There are clear instructions and suggestions as the author takes you on the journey from an idea to the first chapter. O highly suggest this to writers, both new and experienced, and young or old. Very helpful!
I never plan my stories. Ever. It’s just something I don’t do. The times I’ve tried ended with those stories being immediately abandoned. It’s like when I get the ideas down on paper/into a word document, my brain sees them and goes, “eh, good enough.â€But! I was at my friends’ apartment the other night and was perusing their bookshelf when I happened upon Ready, Set, Novel! Intrigued, I opened it, expecting a boring writer’s guide or something, and was delighted to discover it was a workbook for plotting out a novel. I immediately pulled out my phone, went to Amazon, and bought it. It was waiting on my doorstep the *next* day. Four for you, Amazon shipping department.I began using the workbook last night and if this is the kind of thing I've been missing whilst planning a story, then boy do I have some lost time to make up for! The workbook is visually engaging and very fun to use, not to mention how well it reins in all the ideas vying to be used. It organizes everything nicely.I highly recommend this to anyone who's looking to start a novel (or even a short story). It's a wonderful tool. I'll probably end up buying six more.
Bought this as a gift for a friend and it was well received. I flipped through the pages before wrapping it, and it looked very interesting! I might have to get a copy for myself....

We love this Kid's Bible and it is a welcome companion to the Jesus Storybook Bible, our family favorite. Great text, colorful, clear, and theologically on spot.
With 416 pages that share 28 of the same Bible stories and images that are found in the app, this is a wonderful companion piece to go alongside the free app. Like many parents, I want to limit screen time for my son and this allows me now to do this without limiting his meaningful engagement with God's Word. I am grateful to You Version and OneHope for making this available. Going to be recommending this to all my friends and family--and highly recommend it to you.
This is a sturdy book with cute illustrations, however, I was disappointed in the way the Bible stories have been simplified. I understand that this is a book for very young children (we've been reading it to our daughter since she was 6 months old), but the simplification of some of the stories makes them nonsensical. I think this is fine for very young children, but my daughter will be 3 and I am already looking for something that keeps the integrity of the Bible over cuteness and simplicity of children's books. I don't mean to be overly critical and I certainly don't regret this purchase - I just want to share our experience so others can feel equipped to make a good decision for themselves.
I can't give this enough stars!Bright colorful pages with fun, vivid illustrations and large print the kids can follow along. It tells the Bible in a very accurate yet age appropriate way for kids to understand. I can't rave enough about this!Three problems solved for me:1My son would rather watch a movie than have bed time stories--- until this arrived!2 he was uninterested in other versions I've tried--until this one. He won't let me put it down.3 even with children bibles I still struggled to "edit" it into age appropriate terms! -- not with this one. It has opened up discussion with my son and me.It has questions for theParent to ask the kid for a very interactive approach.
Reading it to my 9yr old son and 13yr old daughter at bedtime. They are both really enjoying it even though my daughter knows the stories. I love the question at the end of each chapter. Its a great way for my son to tell the story in his own words. At each attempt to stop for the night and they ask meach to read just one more. We talk about what the stories mean. The artwork is great too. I am glad this book helps them to learn more about God and Jesus while helping uso to be closer as a family.
Our family LOVES the Bible App for Kids, and our kids were so excited when they saw that their favorite app was now a book! I can't wait to incorporate it into our nightly bedtime story routine. Thank you YouVersion and OneHope for giving parents like us great tools to help our kids fall in love with God's Word!
I bought this book to give to my grand daughter because she really likes the web version of all the bible stories. So, when this hardback version came out I immediately got on Amazon and ordered it. It wasn't quite ready to be released but as soon as it was, I received it well ahead of the promised delivery time. Now, I can read to hear at bed time without having to have anything electronic.! The artwork and pictures are just like the online version and all the Bible stories are great to teach little children It has refreshed my memory of the Gospels as well. You will love this book, buy one or more and you can share them with all your kids and grand kids. The price is unbelievably low.
We have another Bible that I was enjoying reading to my kids, but I realized a lot of it was probably over their heads and would be better for the 7-10yr range. So when I came across this Bible in one of our children's classes at Church I fell in love with how simple it was and perfect for the 2-6yr range. My kids are able to understand the words and stories as a whole as well as the fabulous illustrations.
