I absolutely love adult coloring books and journaling so my next review is will be a journaling bible that is also a coloring bible. It is the NIV Beautiful Work Coloring Bible. This bible brings together two of my favorite things, journaling and coloring.The bible has pages with quotes that you can color as well as a few full pages to color. There are also plenty of blank spaces to do your own journaling and art work. The pages are thicker than usual bible pages to enable coloring. I would suggest using micron pens or pencils. Water color will buckle the pages but if that doesn’t bother you it makes from some very pretty journaling. I don’t think I would use any kind of marker but that is just my opinion. I have seen some people coat the pages with gesso or something similar to keep bleed through from happening.The word art and art work throughout the book is done by various artists so there is a variety of styles. There is an index listing the artist and their pages at the end of the bible. I will say the scripture is quite small and a little hard on my older eyes. There are no really study sources in the bible such as a concordance or anything similar. It is basically scripture with coloring spaces and journaling spaces and that is about all. There is a table of measurements included.If you like journaling and coloring as well as NIV you will probably like this version. I have a KJV coloring and journaling bible that I actually prefer but I really like that I have this one too. I received this bible from booklookbloggers.com in exchange for an honest review.
I've had many bibles over the years but none ever stuck around for long because either it was paperback or I couldn't understand the translation. I really wanted a bible that would be my permanent bible that I could keep for years and highlight, write, etc in. This bible is it! I love that is a hardcover bible and it had an 1 inch margin that you can write notes in. The front cover of the bible is a design of Proverbs 3:5-6 I personally like it but if you want the look of a more traditional bible you won't like it.PROS: hardcover & sturdy, nice journaling space on the side to write quick notes, adds more to the reading experience with featured drawings of verses, one column text meaning it's not too much on one page and the font is big enough to read without hurting your eyes. It also comes with a cute satin bookmark that is attached to it so you can keep your place!CONS: there is only one con (hence only one start deducted) I have is the pages are still thin like every other bible. So be careful because yes they will/may rip if you're turning too fast. Yes markers and highlighters will bleed through. I used a special non-bleed through bible highlighter and it still showed through.

Since faith does indeed come from hearing the Word of God (as well as reading it!), I tried again, and bought the Complete NIV Audio Bible on MP3 CD (ISBN-10: 1444786407) here on Amazon, and they DID divide each chapter into a separate track. Also, each chapter starts with the name of the book, then the chapter number, so if you want to randomize chapters, you'll know what book each one is from. I purchased this NIV Bible through a recommendation that this version was easier to understand. I was brought up Catholic, but I am in no way a devout follower. Lately I have wanted to read the Bible in its entirety to better understand Christianity and it’s basis so that I may strengthen my faith. I can honestly say that this is the most beautiful Bible I have ever held. The drawings are lovely and inspiring, and the translation is stunningly fluid. I appreciate the space to write, and the thinness of the pages doesn’t bother me. Although it’s not “Catholic approvedâ€, I have no problem reading this Bible if it makes me want to learn and grow. I just started and already I don’t want to put it down. It reads like a favorite story. Thank you.
Such a beautiful Bible. There are several full page illustrations, as well as in the margins. Some of the illustrations have very small pieces to them. I would think colored pencils would be best for coloring in this Bible.

Received my copy this afternoon (Woo, 2-day Prime shipping!) and I already love it! The illustrations are so beautiful and really do bring the words to life. I was originally searching for a Bible that had wide margins for note-taking only, but I stumbled upon these and fell in love! I like that the pages are bright white and ever so slightly thicker than traditional "onion skin" Bible pages. I have used my Prismacolor pencils to color a page and they work beautifully! They show up nice and bright and don't show through on the other side. Also, the book itself is very attractive without the dust jacket! It features a verse from Psalms on the front and title is only printed on the side, which I prefer; I didn't like that some of the other available creative Bibles had "My Coloring Bible" emblazoned across the front. Makes you feel kinda silly. :PAll-in-all, this is a great purchase! The price is unbelievable and the product is beautiful. However, be warned that the print in this Bible is VERY SMALL and some of the illustrations have incredibly small lettering that may be difficult to color.

I bought the Kindle version of this book as part of the required reading list for a promotional exam. Overall, the book reads well, is laid out well, and is very educational. I found it very insightful.HOWEVER, after renting the Kindle version of the book I discovered that not all the photos are in the Kindle version. Some areas are grayed out and it states the pictures are not available due to copyright issues. This is a seemingly minor issue but all sections of the book are testable and I'm sure they could find a way to include something about a photo in the test. Also, the pictures might help demonstrate something that's presented In the book. I would think if you paid for use of the book you would get all the content.I called Amazon and tech support kept trying to fix it. Finally, I just had them cancel the order and bought the actual book. They were very helpful and ultimately we reached a resolution.Afterwards, I talked to a coworker who also had the Kindle book and the same issue so it does not appear to be something tech support could fix.I do recommend the book, just beware of this issue when making your decision to buy the book or the Kindle edition.
Overall, the book was well structured, read rather easily, and had good material. As a just recently certified basic firefighter looking into developing a career-long library, I purchased this book along with many others. The information is thorough enough for leaders to read but still approachable enough for the rookie person. There were parts that seemed to just drone on the same topic or theme, but I guess that happens with most books that serve as a 'textbook' on a topic material. The images were outdated by today's standard but it is afterall a title from the late 90's, early '00s.
I loved so much about this book as I always have in reading past writings.

There is not much positive to say about this book. It has only 150 "riddles"/ logic puzzles. Quite a few of them are lame (lame, LAME!), and quite a few of the rest are "heard too often"s. The large graphic heading introducing each riddle is ridiculous, distracting, and a total waste of paper...which is why the book's riddle section uses up 60 pages with what could have fit in 20-25 and the rest of those book pages could have been used for MORE (perhaps BETTER) puzzles. The sentence structures for several of the riddles are incorrect, for example using "how do you call" instead of "what might you call...", which throws the answer in the wrong direction. I'd hoped for a book of clever riddles and thought puzzles to share with my grandkids (ages 8 and 12) who are at the stage of loving such things. This book was NOT it. I definitely felt this book was a waste of my money. I wish I would have thought to look at our local libraries' selection of riddle books before I impulsively bought this one! If you don't have terrific libraries around you like I'm lucky enough to, then I recommend looking up riddles and thought puzzles on line instead...I found some really super ones that way, too. I will not make the mistake of buying anything else from Puzzleland. (Had the item description offered a better preview of the book/ "look inside" I could have better evaluated that this book would not be what I was looking for. I'm guessing this was a deliberate move on their part.)
I purchased this as a gift for a 1st grader. Some of the riddles are, I would say, advanced and perhaps a bit difficult for a six year old, but I think by and large it has good riddles that are funny. It is a bit annoying to have to look up each answer in the back. It would be so much more convenient if the answers appeared right below each riddle - they could be printed upside down so the child is more unlikely to "cheat" and look at the answers before trying to solve the riddle. I think this would be perfect for grade 2 and above - for an advanced child in grade one it should work as well.
My 10 and 8 yr olds love brain teasers and riddles. This book is full of riddles and questions that kept them busy for days! They like to get together with their friends to see who can stump who. This book was a hit with all of them! I would definitely recommend!
It was fun to read on a road trip. It encouraged my 7 year old son to read on his own. Loved it.
My two little cousins love to stump the family with riddles and jokes. Well this little book gave them some over the top challenges. I love it.

I had read all of these sf-detective stories and novella years ago as they appeared. They are well written and engaging and hold the reader in a pocket of Niven’s Known Space universe by playing on themes which are becoming more and more relevant in our world of growing life expectancy and organ transplants. Gil the Arm Hamilton has a consistent voice and good ethics which carry the stories and his character and when finished makes us want more. I think the later Niven would have added even more texture to the writing and character of the cast. Can one hope he’ll take another shot at the sleuth in space?
I have loved these stories, and nearly everything in the Known Space universe, since reading the first ones when I was a kid.In this book, Gil "The Arm" is an elite investigator with the ARM organization, which investigates advances in technology to avoid destabilizing civilization, keeps tabs on births over the allowance for each parent, and keeps the organ bootlegging (organlegging) trade in check. Gil has _three_ arms - two normal ones and a third which is invisible - actually a PSI talent - with which he can lift small things (e.g., a cigarette) within a normal arm's reach distance from him. He uses this in every story to some advantage.Niven is amazingly inventive in the technology he creates for his stories, the puzzles he makes the main character in every story have to solve, and in his characters, who spring - alive - from the pages as you read the stories.You won't be able to put this book down, so you'd better allocate some time to read.
FLATLANDER is a collection of five stories featuring Gil "The Arm" Hamilton, a top operative of the 22nd century UN police force. The stories are set in Larry Niven's "Known Space" environment and find human society extending from Earth to the Moon, Mars, and the asteroid belt. Overpopulation and organ transplantation gone wild have resulted in a major black market for human organs, organ banks, and the death penalty for even minor legal offences. Demand is so great that innocent victims can simply disappear off the streets, kidnapped and dismembered just to keep the illegal "organleggers" in business. Hamilton gets involved in five separate murder cases, resulting in the five stories presented in the book.As Niven points out in a rather engaging "Afterward", writing scifi mysteries is a demanding task. The author must satisfy the requiremants of two different genres and maintain internal consistancy. Niven does a nice job of accomplishing the task here. Technology and environment come together in stories involving well-conceived mysteries that, as with any good mystery, give the reader enough facts to solve the case before the author presents the solution. Are these the best mysteries I've ever read? No. Are they the best scifi stories I've read? No, again, but they're as good a combination of the two as I've come across.The first three stories in FLATLANDER were written during Niven's vintage years (i.e. the late '60s/early '70s when he wrote things like RINGWORLD and was a Hugo and Nebula award-winning author), and it shows. Overall, however, this is classic Niven stuff and will provide scifi fans, in particular, with some entertaining reading. I found them to be great fun.
Sad to admit, I've never read any of Larry Niven's books. After reading this one, that's going to change. The characters are believable and the situations might not be applicable on our world but on another, why not? The novel is a collection of stories, I'd say more novella length than short stories. Each story ends and the next story starts somewhere else. Many of the characters carry over from story to story. Easy to read and follow the content.
Gil the Arm is a character in the early days of the Known Space tales. The main character is a detective with the UN's ARM (Algamated Regional Militias) and is primarily worried about Organ-legging.Niven is always a solid read and breaches the line between detective fiction and Science Fiction.
I'm a very big fan of Larry Niven and his "Known Space" stories. However, I'm also fond of detective mysteries. I really enjoyed these short mystery stories because it didn't feel like Mr. Niven was using science fiction as a crutch. By that I mean I did not feel he invented some fantastical device at the end of the mystery simply to throw in a quick surprise twist. The stories were interesting and slowly built to an ending. I feel too many novels want to simply shock the reader with a twist at the end that does not connect to the story leading up to it. I highly recommend for anyone who enjoys stories set in the "Known Space" universe, or for someone who is a fan of mystery novels and is looking for a unique sci-fi twist on the genre.
This is more a collection of short stories than a single coherent one. The stories all are of the same central character and are of a mystery/suspense type. The read is easy, interesting, and enjoyable future world/science fiction.
This was a good read with interesting story lines and engaging characters. My feeling is quite subjective - just that I've read other works by Niven that I've enjoyed much more than this one.

I'm currently in nursing school and while the information in this book is useful, some of the pages are literally unreadable. For some reason the text is totally blurred on most of the charts. There's also a table of contents page that refers to page numbers and there aren't even any numbers on the pages....disappointing.
This book is a joke. It looks like someone without much experience made this book on their computer at home. In fact, I'm pretty sure this person went to Pinterest, copied and pasted a bunch of cheat sheets to his computer and threw it together in a homemade book. The information alone is somewhat helpful if you can make out what it says; because everything is so gray its very difficult to read.
Helpful little book during clinicals. Small enough to carry around to have information when you need it. I wish it was in color, instead of black and white but not bad. The main thing I liked was the lab values. Good for beginner nursing students!
I purchased the 76 cheat sheets, Mnemonics and 140 must know meds. I browsed thru the books once they arrived and was disappointed in the font quality. If you are trying to "stage" a pressure ulcer color would be helpful. Also in some assessments its great to see color variations etc on the patients
Good notes but if you are in Nursing school you may want to get better notes it wasn't as much information as I was expecting but was some what helpful

I should have known,that after buying the book it was just a normal teachimg to learn the nursing areas. No m neumonics were listed only in certain areas of nursing. If I could have read more before putchasing I would have seen that it's just the same as is in any book. Dissapointed.
This content is good. However, I only gave it 3 stars because the entire book is in black and white. It’s mostly charts and diagrams. The font of the book is extremely small and grey, making it very hard to see. The format is all messed up too. The pages arent completely filled with content.I wouldn’t recommend this to book because of those reasons. It really is a shame because if the print was quality and didn’t need a magnifying glass to read and had colors this would be an absolute go to.
