I ordered this after seeing Feinberg speak at my law school - it's an excellent book and a great glimpse into a unique legal career. It's also a quick read, which I always enjoy.
This is written by Kenneth Feinberg who was charged with the difficult task of managing the Victim Compensation Funds for 9/11Victims as well as other disasters, including shooting episodes. He puts forward a short biography so the reader can understandwhere he comes from in terms of background, education and values. I found it very interesting and feel that he did a fine job in all cases. Obviously, it is impossible for him to please all involved. He lays everything out in clear, logical language and I found it very helpful in understanding where the monies come from, how, why, and what are the factors to be considered when working out who gets what. I think it is an important record of those funds and how they work. There are many emotional factors and he works withthose in mind at all times but must remember his goal of fair distribution. He has given generously of his time and talents and is , inmy opinion, to be thanked and congratulated. His has been a valuable public service.

I do have a disagreement with the amount of settlement difference between Agent Orange, 9-11 and Hokie resolutions.We don't get any clarity about how we should handle the next big disaster. It seems that we should have this dialogue before and not after there is a national tragedy that needs us to attend to our fallen Heros. Money is very important to get the families back on track, but it will not replace the loved one. Nothing is said about the programs that could be put in place to deal with the loss of loved ones. I see that as a flaw in what we are trying to accomplish. We give a check and go away and think that all is well. It is only the beginning as these brave families try to rebuild their lives. I was in NYC, shortly after 9-11, walking near the Trade Center and was literally brought to my knees with the memorial boards that were put up for loved ones lost in the towers. 9-11 was a monumental event that changed the world as we knew it and it is just and fitting that we stepped up for the fallen heros.Personal responsibilty is touched on this book, but only in passing. The question I have is why don't more individuals have life insurance? The idea is income protection for one's family and loved ones. As a nation we are ok with a five hundred a month car payment, but don't have any family wealth protection.We are fortunate to have someone like Kenneth Fienberg serving us during these national disasters.If you are a tax payer, I recommend you read this book.

He should receive the Congressional Gold Medal for his selfless acts.At first, I was reluctant to purchase Feinberg’s two books; I was afraid that It would be full of lawyer speak that I wouldn't be able to understand. Boy was I wrong. Not only does he tell the story in a clear, succinct way but makes the entire story very interesting and readable.In a Graduate Business Ethics class, that I once attended, we discussed various scenarios within the context of Duty Ethics and Utilitarian Ethics. Ken’s two books would be a good choice for inclusion in these types of classes (Business Ethics, or a Philosophy Ethics Classes). I bought this as a gift for my husband. He has thoroughly enjoyed coloring on the pages while the kids have their coloring books. It has been a great stress reliever. The paper is nice, definitely would only use pencils though, not pens. The drawings are detailed and well drawn. Thus far, it's been a A+ purchase.

Needed to continue on to find out if the author and his wife make it through and find a decent life without crazy employers. Well as the title says the clowns are still out there and make good fodder for more nutty stories, which the author does so well.Such hard working people to have to live with such selfish, demanding and demeaning people. And to have a health scare and treatment while doing this work seems so difficult. But the ending seems to be leading up to another book.....?. Well written and a good read.

I’m a bit disappointed. I bought the complete, hard cover boxed set because they’ll be used by 4 kids. I prefer the durability of hardcover and like how they look on our bookshelf. However, 4 our of the 13 books are paperback.
very happy with this set! Daughter loves it. The sticker problem i have seen on previous comments was not an issue with our set. I was really worried the stickers would ruin the covers, but they must have heard all the complaints. Our books did come with stickers, but came off easily with no residue and no delamination of covers. Maybe it's because we took the stickers off the day we received? Great set!
I love this box set! The books were all in excellent shape and perfect. The only problems I had were that one of the back corners had damage, which was disappointing but not a huge deal to me because it was on the back. Also the stickers on the front for the netflix series did take a little of the lamination off when they were peeled off. Overall it was a great purchase though!
The best books around! They have a great story line and each book leads into the next unfortunate event. Slowly peel off the Netflix stickers and you're golden!
Great books! There were a few puncture spots in the cardboard that actually holds the books, but, it's cosmetic and did not affect the books themselves. I read another review that said the book pages were feathered. This is a feature of the books that gives them the "old" look, which I really enjoy. I think that this is a good investment if you have kids that like to read.
Love these books and the set is gorgeous. I love the original style of the pages that is classic Series of Unfortunate Events. The box looks great on top of my shelf.My only complaint is that they felt the need to put the Netflix sitckers in every book. Even if I’m careful to pull them off, I still pull off some of the slick coating and it’s noticeable in a certain light.
I was nervous when I bought this because there are several negative reviews. However, upon opening it, everything was perfect, the books were in great condition, and most fortunately all the books were printed right side up. The pages do have that staggered, homemade look, but that's the way the hardcover versions have always been printed, so I wasn't bothered by that. Overall this product is wonderful and reasonably priced! Great for any fan of the series

When Did You See Her Last? is the second book of Lemony Snicket's All the Wrong Questions series, a hard-boiled detective style story populated with strange people, unsettling settings, and more wrong questions than you can shake a stick at. (Why would you want to shake a stick at anything? What good would it do? Well...let's not think too hard about that.)2. This book picks up where the first book, Who Could That Be at This Hour?, left off, so if you don't want to read any spoilers ("spoiler" is a word which here means, "stop reading this right now!"), read the first book first. Also, starting at the beginning of the series instead of the middle will save you from being more perplexed and mystified than necessary.3. Even if you have read the first book, you will still be perplexed and mystified by the perplexing new mystery introduced in this second book: Cleo Knight, the daughter of the Ink Inc. owners who once made Stain'd-by-the-Sea a thriving center of ink commerce, has allegedly run away and joined the circus. It is up to young Lemony Snicket and his not-so-competent chaperone, S. Theodora Markson, to find Miss Knight.4. As implied by the title of this book, Snicket attempts to locate Miss Knight's whereabouts by asking the obvious question. However, he soon realizes that, once again, he is asking all the wrong questions. The true mystery is not, "When did you see her last?" or "Why did she run away?" but "Why aren't her parents more upset about her disappearance?" and "How can she be seen in more than one place at the same time?"5. While trying to solve the new case of the missing Cleo Knight, Snicket is still working on the case introduced in the previous book, that of the disappearing, reappearing Bombinating Beast statue. Why is a wooden, milk bottle-sized statue in the shape of an ugly creature resembling the offspring of a shark and a seahorse considered so valuable by the evasive villain named Hangfire? Why is the enigmatic Ellington Feint, a girl who captured Snicket's fancy in the first book, so anxious to get her hands on it, too?6. Fortunately, in spite of his deadweight chaperone, Snicket gets investigative help from more competent friends, including aspiring journalist Moxie Mallahan, taxi-driving brothers Pip and Squeak, and Hungry's nephew (yes, you read that last one correctly). Unfortunately, When Did You See Her Last? introduces many more questions than it answers, which means you will develop an uncomfortable itch that can only be scratched when you get to read the as-yet-unreleased third installment of this series.
