We love this Kid's Bible and it is a welcome companion to the Jesus Storybook Bible, our family favorite. Great text, colorful, clear, and theologically on spot.
With 416 pages that share 28 of the same Bible stories and images that are found in the app, this is a wonderful companion piece to go alongside the free app. Like many parents, I want to limit screen time for my son and this allows me now to do this without limiting his meaningful engagement with God's Word. I am grateful to You Version and OneHope for making this available. Going to be recommending this to all my friends and family--and highly recommend it to you.
This is a sturdy book with cute illustrations, however, I was disappointed in the way the Bible stories have been simplified. I understand that this is a book for very young children (we've been reading it to our daughter since she was 6 months old), but the simplification of some of the stories makes them nonsensical. I think this is fine for very young children, but my daughter will be 3 and I am already looking for something that keeps the integrity of the Bible over cuteness and simplicity of children's books. I don't mean to be overly critical and I certainly don't regret this purchase - I just want to share our experience so others can feel equipped to make a good decision for themselves.
I can't give this enough stars!Bright colorful pages with fun, vivid illustrations and large print the kids can follow along. It tells the Bible in a very accurate yet age appropriate way for kids to understand. I can't rave enough about this!Three problems solved for me:1My son would rather watch a movie than have bed time stories--- until this arrived!2 he was uninterested in other versions I've tried--until this one. He won't let me put it down.3 even with children bibles I still struggled to "edit" it into age appropriate terms! -- not with this one. It has opened up discussion with my son and me.It has questions for theParent to ask the kid for a very interactive approach.
Reading it to my 9yr old son and 13yr old daughter at bedtime. They are both really enjoying it even though my daughter knows the stories. I love the question at the end of each chapter. Its a great way for my son to tell the story in his own words. At each attempt to stop for the night and they ask meach to read just one more. We talk about what the stories mean. The artwork is great too. I am glad this book helps them to learn more about God and Jesus while helping uso to be closer as a family.
Our family LOVES the Bible App for Kids, and our kids were so excited when they saw that their favorite app was now a book! I can't wait to incorporate it into our nightly bedtime story routine. I bought this book to give to my grand daughter because she really likes the web version of all the bible stories. So, when this hardback version came out I immediately got on Amazon and ordered it. It wasn't quite ready to be released but as soon as it was, I received it well ahead of the promised delivery time. Now, I can read to hear at bed time without having to have anything electronic.! The artwork and pictures are just like the online version and all the Bible stories are great to teach little children It has refreshed my memory of the Gospels as well. You will love this book, buy one or more and you can share them with all your kids and grand kids. The price is unbelievably low.
We have another Bible that I was enjoying reading to my kids, but I realized a lot of it was probably over their heads and would be better for the 7-10yr range. So when I came across this Bible in one of our children's classes at Church I fell in love with how simple it was and perfect for the 2-6yr range. My kids are able to understand the words and stories as a whole as well as the fabulous illustrations.

This is a good book for someone who has no idea on how to plan a memorial service. It has some useful tips and did help me tie up some loose ends so I am glad I purchased it. I had a basic idea of what I wanted in our Celebration of Life so this book was a nice supplement to that.
I had no idea how to go about planning a non-religious celebration of life for our mother who died recently. It was reassuring to find a guide.The memorial itself went very smoothly, and we received many compliments from guests.
Purchased this prior to my husbands death. He did not want a funeral and this gave memany great ideas on how to plan his Celebration of Life. So glad I did. It was a joyous occasion.
It has all the info needed to plan a service. I'm not very far into it yet but it looks very helpful so far.
The book gives some thought provoking ideas on making last arrangements; I was already aware of most of the suggestions having been a social worker with disabled and vulnerable adults, and hospice volunteer who was with clients in their final hours. However for someone new to death and dying this might be more helpful. All in all, I did get a couple of ideas for my mother's funeral.
Every family should have this little book on the bookshelf for when they need it. I wish I'd had this straight-forward, thoughtful and easy to follow resource when I was planning the memorial service for my mother. Faith Moore gracefully takes the reader through the various options available to people who wish to plan their own services, or to help the bereaved create a remembrance celebration that they feel does honor and justice to their loved one.The is also a workbook, helping us sort through our feelings and wishes about a topic that no one really wants to tackle, yet all of us must at some time. I really enjoy American folk art and have seen self-taught artist Karla Gerard's original artwork (online) and her rug patterns before, so when I came across a coloring book of her original, hand-drawn designs, I was thrilled to be able to purchase and color in it. “Fanciful Folk Art†is a wonderful collection of 45 modern American folk art designs. The designs have the almost child-like quality that one expects with folk art and that is what draws me to this style. The pictures are much more sophisticated than what a child would draw but it evokes that response in me. I love to pick up colors and work in big blocks without much consideration (except, perhaps, contrast.) I only have one other coloring book that I consider to be American folk art so getting a book with so many great designs has been wonderful.The designs in the coloring book are printed on one side of medium weight non-perforated paper. I was able to get the book to lay flat by slightly breaking the spine. The binding is glued rather than sewn so you will have to cut pages out if you wish to remove them. The designs all stop well before the margins so you won't lose any portion of them if you cut them out. The artist has included a framing line around all of her designs. I really appreciate this as it gives me a natural stopping point and keeps me from wasting ink and time. It is also very frustrating to try to draw at the edge of a design when the elements are not finished – the framing line solves this and makes coloring easy and more fun.Both my alcohol and water based markers seeped through the paper. My gel pens and India ink markers left color shadows on the back of the page. My coloring pencils worked well according to type (soft or hard lead.) My soft lead pencils went on smoothly and my hard lead pencils did not leave an indent on the back of the page. As I certainly plan to use markers in this book, I will put a piece of card stock or chipboard behind the page I am working on to keep ink from seeping through to the following pages. In the comments section below, I will list the coloring mediums I used to test this coloring book.
Really stunning folk art coloring pages of many different delightful designs. I've colored mine with Sharpie markers (ultra fine point), and have had no bleed-through at all so far. (I did place a blank sheet of paper behind each design as I colored in the event it did bleed through.) I did notice a little bit of "color spread" with a few of the markers, but not significant if you concentrate on applying the color in small increments from the middle out. Not different from most coloring paper on the market these days. If you like this kind of art, this folk art coloring book will bring you many hours of relaxation and enjoyment! (Like adventuring through those delightful fairy tales your grandmother used to tell you at bedtime!)
I think “fanciful†is a good name for these drawings. The drawings invite playing with color. The print quality is good and the drawings are on one side of the page only - something I look for in coloring books. (I hate it when I have to worry about water color markers bleeding through the paper and ruining the drawing on the back.
This is the coloring book I have been waiting for since I started collecting! There are 45 images on one-sided paper and I actually like every one of them. Most are wonderfully whimsical folk art houses like the cover with a few very unique handsome women, some animals and a couple of florals, all done in a way that can't help but make me smile. I love this book!
If you love folk art, this coloring book is for you! It is delightful and has enough variety to please different coloring skill sets. The artist is truly gifted. I'm glad she has decided to share her talents for us all to enjoy!
I've noticed recently that when I choose a page to color, I've been gravitating to folk art. I loved the colorful cover on this, so I took a chance without even looking at the reviews. I absolutely love it! Great pictures to color, single-sided, perforated, and decent paper. Thank you, Karla Gerard, I can't wait to get started!
It is exactly what it looks like a fanciful folk art coloring book. I love folk art but coloring it in is a bit on the boring side so it's not really the artists fault, I love her illustrations but it just didn't translate well to a coloring book for me.
I don't like the drawings as much as I thought I would. A few are interesting, but most of them I will donate to the library for children to color. The paper is thick enough for coloring.

We all know that reference books with a niche market like this normally have a smaller printing run, and thus a higher cost. I can live with that. But for the price, I expect the book to be meticulously researched, which means it should be error free. Annoyingly, this volume is nowhere close. To shell out this kind of money, I shouldn't find typo after typo after typo.Actress Carmen Mathews' name is listed repeatedly, but never correctly spelled. In the episode guide for Dickens' "A Christmas Carol," Jacob Marley's name is listed as "Morley." Episode 409 is titled on pg. 75 as "The Death Wisher." In the index (pg. 454) it is titled "The Death Wish." I could go on, but you get my point. There is no excuse to charge this much money and have this many errors. Also, there is not near enough in the way of anecdotal material; this shouldn't be simply a list of air dates and titles, which it mostly is. In addition, the cast credits are skimpy; why couldn't the authors track down the names of those not credited in the orginal broadcast? It would have shown that they actually researched their subject, instead of just compiling lists of readily available material.I suppose I have been spoiled by Marc Scott Zicree's "The Twilght Zone Companion." And I suppose I expected this book to be like that: full of interviews with cast and crew, marvelous anecdotal nuggets, technical insights and more. Boy, was I wrong.I can't recommend this book, but I wish I could. Perhaps someone with more diligence and more respect for the audience will come along in the future and put together an error-free and interesting read. Save your money.
Excellent well researched episode guide and history of the CBS Radio Mystery Theater. Unfortunately, there doesn’t appear to be very much information available on this series, but what there is available is presented in this book. Unlike some other episode guides, this one also has a complete cast list as well.
So I just got my copy of the CBSRMT episode guide by Gordon Payton and Martin Grams Jr.I can tell right off that this will be a love-hate relationship.First let me say that this book was a remarkable undertaking by the authors and I commend them for spending what must have been many, many hours to gather together all this information. I especially am enjoying that I can now match characters to the actors ( thought after hundreds of episodes listened to, I can identify at least a dozen actors at first hearing.)But, the one thing that I find unfathomable is the unfortunate manner they have numbered the episodes. Instead of doing what one would expect to number the total 1,399 episodes in order 1 to 1,399 the authors made the horrendous decision to number them as to their broadcast dates. So, for instance, The Horla was the 44th episode produced however, it show up in the episode guide as number 49 because there were several repeats before it, and then it subsequently shows up as episode 133,1750 and 1960. If the authors wanted to indicate broadcast dates they could have easily created an appendix for this.I will certainly be going through this book with a marker to write down correct numbers so that I can quickly find episodes. Oy vey, what a royal disaster. I’m sure I’ll find little problems as I further digest this guide but I don’t want to discourage fans from getting themselves a copy. I just needed to express my incredulousness at an essential editorial mistake on the part of the authors and publisher.The index could have been organized better with a separate "Show Title" index and "Cast" index, instead there's one big index and it's a mashup. An index should not be a mashup.Even with these egregious flaws I still urge all frequent listeners to pick up a copy as a basic reference, you won’t regret it.
Contains plot synopses and cast, writer, director lists for all 1500 episodes. So this is a must have for true CBSRMT fans. But it could use a star reviews. Like to see Cast/Episode index separated. Maybe move actor bio-information to another section, it very hit or miss scattered in the episode information. Also it would be better to have this laid out alphabetically and just have a broadcast date index in the back; page after page is take up with re-listing reruns and reruns of reruns. Needs updating/rewrite, hope they come out with a new edition sometime. Would love to see an online version that could be sorted, or at least an electronic Kindle version (would make a great iPhone app).But don't get me wrong, the writers have done a great job documenting every episode. I especially like how the plot synopses are spoiler free. This makes it a great guide to follow along with your MP3 episode collection.
It is a complete chronology of the series. It answered a lot of my questions. Tho I would have liked to have seen photos of the individuals involved accompanying the body of work. It is a good companion to the complete series I purchased recently. Radio Mystery Theater is an absolute pleasure to listen to. Me and my children enjoy listening and reading about it together.
